Our decompression, microforages and cell therapy approach.
Osteoarthritis of the knee, grade 3 or 4 (total loss of cartilage of variable size), femoro-tibial side (internal or external) often associated with femoro-patellar osteoarthritis (kneecap) is very common in young subjects , and for which a knee prosthesis (partial or total) could not be offered. There are many causes: knee misalignment, sports trauma (ligament and meniscus rupture, joint fractures, etc.), especially extensive meniscectomy during procedures. Since a clinical trial authorized in 2010 by the ANSM and the CPP after an animal experiment, of use in only one time without culture of mesenchymal stem cells of concentrated aspirated bone marrow, ... ... Continued ... on a previously prepared knee - it must be decompressed and the areas of osteoarthritis microforated -, it has been shown, after often long rehabilitation, that the cartilage could regenerate, allowing a function of the knee close to normal in most cases. Decompression of the knee consists in restoring its axis (osteotomy if angle of more than 5 °); and under arthroscopy: stabilize the cruciate ligament if rupture, meniscus transplant if loss of more than 50%, deep face section lateral ligament, lateral kneecap release. The rate of knee replacement has been considerably reduced in 10 years of this continuous practice despite the heavy administrative obstacles, and reserved for elderly patients, overweight, and with chronic medical pathologies. |
Example of a young patient with arthritis grade 4 right knee, and rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament ACL with loss of the internal meniscus: double repair of the ACL and internal meniscus transplant, under arthroscopy, microforages, and cell therapy

Severe knee osteoarthritis: There is a choice between Total knee replacement and Cartilage Regenerative Surgery with Prp cell therapy and Bone Marrow Stem Cells
According to your selection criteria, age, weight, good physical performance, understanding of cartilage regeneration techniques, willingness to undertake sometimes long rehabilitation (6 months) and good management of post-operative consequences, you will be treated:
- either (image on the left) by conservative cartilage regeneration surgery;
- or (image on the right) by non-cemented total knee prosthesis, movable plate (LCS type, Depuy laboratory; or Zen, Iso laboratory), by minimally invasive incision.
The minimally invasive knee prosthesis technique is described on the site www.arthrosport.com
